What the kit looks like.

Photography outstanding

Photographs of the exact stocked board, its connector side, the cable on its own and a complete working setup are still to be taken. This page will not stand in a concept render or an illustration for them — the Station Hub render shows an enclosure with Ethernet, which this kit does not have.

What's included

Exactly what arrives.

Base configuration

  • One ESP32-S3 board, the exact model listed in the specifications
  • Proxy Nodes firmware, installed and tested before shipping
  • Setup instructions

When selected: one validated USB Y cable per kit.

You supply

  • A compatible USB peripheral
  • A suitable power source
  • Any cables or powered USB hub your setup requires

Supply a compatible peripheral, a suitable power source, and any cables or powered USB hub required by your setup. The base kit does not include these items. Optional accessories are listed separately in your order.

Setup

From the box to a printed receipt.

Four steps, and the wiring is the one that varies with what you plugged in.

  1. Connect your hardware. Follow the wiring guide for the board, cable, power source, and supported peripheral.
  2. Join your network. Power on the node and follow its setup instructions to connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
  3. Verify your connection. Open the node's local page and check that your peripheral is detected.
  4. Connect your software. Use the local API or configure a compatible POS for raw ESC/POS printing on port 9100.

The node's own page is the setup surface that works whether or not a printer is attached. Read the setup guide, including the no-printer case.

Questions

The ones we actually get.

Is this a finished Station Hub?

No. The Proxy Node Kit is an off-the-shelf ESP32-S3 board with our firmware installed. Station Hub is separate custom hardware currently in development.

Do I need the Y cable?

You need a compatible way to power the node and connect its USB peripheral. Our optional Y cable is tested with the documented setup. If you already have a compatible arrangement, you can order the board on its own.

Does it need the internet to print?

Local printing uses your local network and does not require an internet connection. Firmware downloads and cloud features require internet access.

Do I need an account or subscription?

Neither is required for local printing. You can optionally connect a supported node to your Proxy Nodes account.

Will it work with my printer or POS?

Check the compatibility page for tested equipment and supported connection methods. A USB connector alone does not establish compatibility. POS software must support the node's printing interface or be integrated with its API.

Can I connect more than one peripheral?

Supported combinations can use a compatible powered USB hub. Check the compatibility guide for tested devices, hub requirements, and capacity limits. A hub is not included in the base kit.

Can I install the firmware on my own board?

The firmware page lists supported hardware and installation options. Use an image intended for your exact board; ESP32 boards are not interchangeable.

Is the firmware open source?

Firmware downloads and source-code publication are separate. We have not announced an open-source release of the firmware. Refer to the download terms for permitted use.

Where do I find delivery and return information?
