Warranty
What we stand behind.
A short warranty on the node itself, and — before any of it — a straight account of what stage this hardware is at. Read the second section before you buy, not after.
Read this first
This is early hardware, and here is exactly what that means.
Not a disclaimer bolted on by a lawyer. This is the part we would want to be told.
- It is built on a development module, not a custom board. Our own PCB is a concept: nothing about it has been ordered, quoted or scheduled. The node you receive is an ESP32-S3 module with our firmware on it, and it is honest to picture it that way.
- There is no injection-moulded enclosure. No tooling has been cut. What arrives will not look like a product photographed in a studio, because there is no such product yet — which is also why there are no glossy renders pretending otherwise on this site.
- The field history is short and we can count it. Our evidence comes from a small bench fleet, not from thousands of units across hundreds of restaurants over years. The firmware is well tested — the conformance suite and the ASan/UBSan builds are real — but tests are not the same as time in the field, and we will not pretend they are.
- Some things listed on this site are still in development. Where a page says a capability is in development, it means exactly that. The compatibility page separates what we have run on our bench from what is emulated but never confirmed against a real point-of-sale system.
- The thing that does not depend on any of the above: the print path is local. A node that works on your counter keeps working whatever happens to us, our servers, or our roadmap. That is written into the terms of sale as an undertaking, not a slogan.
If any of that is more risk than the job can carry, buy one and try it before you buy several — or run the free simulator first and spend nothing at all.
The warranty
Term, and what it covers.
Term
TBD months from delivery
Not yet settled, and shown as TBD rather than filled in with twelve because it looks normal. A warranty term on a website is a promise, and we are not making one by default.
Covered: the node failing through a defect in the hardware or in the firmware it shipped with — it will not boot, it will not bind a printer that meets the compatibility page, USB or Wi-Fi stops working, or it fails a factory reset. Our remedy is a repair, a replacement, or a refund, at our option.
Not covered: physical damage, liquid, a supply that fried it, opening or modifying the hardware, and consequential loss of any kind (see the limitation of liability).
Third-party hardware is not ours
Your receipt printer, your cash drawer, your barcode scanner, your USB hub and your cables are covered by whoever made and sold them. We did not manufacture them and we do not warrant them — the whole point of the product is that you choose them yourself and can replace them without asking us.
Two consequences worth stating. A printer that speaks a language the firmware does not implement is not a fault in the node — it is a mismatch, and the compatibility page exists so you can check before buying. And a peripheral that breaks does not extend or engage this warranty, even though the symptom shows up through the node.
Firmware updates are provided as a service and may change or stop; they are not part of this warranty. A node that never updates again keeps the firmware it shipped with, which is yours.
Claiming
How a claim works.
- Email support@proxynodes.com with the order number, the node ID, the firmware version it is running, and a paste of
GET /statusif the node still answers. If it does not answer at all, say so — that is itself the most useful diagnostic there is. - We try to fix it where it stands. A surprising share of "dead node" reports are a USB supply or a cable, and a node you keep beats a node you post.
- If it is the node, we issue an RMA number and the same return process as a return applies. We pay the postage on a warranty claim.
This warranty is in addition to your statutory rights as a consumer, which nothing here reduces.
